The Vampire Diaries: Dark Reunion - L.J. Smith

SPOILER ALERT: If you are at all interested in reading this series from start to finish please do not read the bellow. It will contain major plot points and information that may ruin the book for you.

About The Book

Author: L.J. Smith
Pages: 288
Type: Young Adult
ISBN: 0606147594

After Elena's death her friends attempt to return to their normal lives thinking the thing terrorizing Fell's Church is behind them. Stefan and Damon have escaped to Europe. Stefan is trying to uphold his promise to Elena to watch over Damon and Damon...is well...being Damon. However, Bonnie cannot return to her normal life. She is plagued by dreams of Elena and a powerful source of evil energy. Everyone returns to Fell's Church after girls begin dying in mysterious ways and all signs lead to something supernatural. It has never been more dangerous for the people of Fell's Church as something much more powerful than Katherine arrives in their town.

I couldn't possibly imagine what else L.J. Smith could have put these characters through. The death of the main character made me think that the next book would be a wrap up from Stefan's point of view. I was pleasantly surprised to begging reading and be in the mind of the sweet and lovable Bonnie. The imagery in this novel is much darker than the last three. Bonnie has some pretty messed up dreams that are influenced by this book's evil power, Klaus. FYI: Klaus is Katherine's creator in the book series but not in the TV show. Elena is still involved and still getting the girls into trouble. Because of her unnatural death Elena is trapped in between worlds. When the gang is reunited they learn some very disturbing things about Tyler...like that he is a werewolf. Without giving too much away...madness ensues, lots of death, love and fear.

Dark Reunion is wonderful and a bit of a sob fest. Not as fluffy as the rest of the series so be prepared a few shocks and horrors. Thus ends the first four The Vampire Diaries books. Once I finish a few of the books I have on the go currently I will begin The Return series.
